When Moses Brown got lost in the corn maze at Sleepy Hollow Farms’ Harvest Celebration, no one worried. The maze was intended for children – It was exceedingly simple to navigate – and besides, Moses was a surly sixteen year old.
“Lord knows, teenagers love to loiter.” The maze supervisor, Phil Jones, remarked. Still, when Moses had not emerged by the end of the day, Phil begrudgingly went in to investigate.
He scoured the dirt paths long after dark, but there was no sign of Moses. Suddenly, his flashlight landed on a recently extinguished cigarette. He rounded the corner in time to see a hooded figure slip between corn stalks. Phil broke into a run and grabbed him.
“Gotcha!”
An ancient looking man turned around, confused.
“I’m so sorry! I…thought you were someone else.” The man shrugged, and Phil wondered with a shudder why that withered face looked so very much like Moses Brown.
